HISTORICAL
SITES
Historical Society of the
Town of Warwick - PO Box 353 - Warwick, 10990 - (845)986-3236
- Organized in 1906, it is one of the largest historical societies
in the state. It presently has more than 500 members and owns five
architecturally significant old buildings and a railroad
caboose.
One of the Society's most
ambitious undertakings was the drive to obtain Historic district
designation for the core area of the Village of Warwick. This was
achieved in 1984 after ten years of painstaking work, and resulted
in Warwick being listed in both NY State and National Register of
Historic Places.
The properties that the Society
owns and maintains are: |

1810 House - 80 Main
Street. This early 19th century saltbox cottage houses a

|
-
Old School Baptist
Meeting House - High and Church Streets. Built in 1810,
this imposing structure crowns a hill just above Lewis Park on

pleasing appearance. Its wine-glass pulpit and barrel ceiling
are outstanding features. It is still used on occasion for
Society sponsored activities.
|
-
Zacariah Ketchum House
- 26 Church Street. One of the oldest original houses in the
Village of Warwick., it is believed to have been the home of
the Meeting House's builder. This attractive structure - with
its handsomely carved pilaster doorway and fireplace mantels -
underwent painstaking restoration and renovation in
1978.

about 1825, this typical rural structure houses a splendid
collection of early tools, farm implements, appliances, horse
drawn sleighs and carriages, etc.
